Broker and Owner Jeff Buchanan has an unparalleled knowledge of the lake that gives him a powerful advantage when it comes to selling real estate.  For over a decade Jeff ran and operated the most successful guide service on Lake Sam Rayburn.  

During that time he also sold lake property as a real estate agent, until which time he sold his guide service and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to delve even deeper into real estate. 

Atlanta is the hottest real estate market in the country, and Jeff rapidly gained experience while working full time as a real estate appraiser. 

He enjoyed the work and the city, but he and his wife, Heather, missed their family back in the Lone Star State and returned to East Texas with their young son, Chip, just in time for the birth of their second son, Blake. 

Jeff also owns and operates The Backlash Lodge and several other lake area rental homes that cater to fisherman and their families.

Over the past few years, many of these lodge clients would regularly inquire about property for sale around the lake, and complain about the lack of service in the lake area.  After about the thousandth inquiry and with much prayer, Jeff and his wife Heather decided to open Jeff Buchanan Realty to fill that gap.  Jeff's background in appraising and his detailed knowledge of Lake Sam Rayburn make him the most reliable resource in the area when it comes to pricing, listing, and finding property. 

No one knows the lake better than Jeff, and he has used this knowledge to meet the needs of those of you who, like him, love the lake.  God has blessed this business and has shown, once again, that all things work for good for those who love and serve the Lord.

HEATHER BUCHANAN
Heather brings a diverse and powerfully dynamic background to Jeff Buchanan Realty.  Heather is not only a Broker/Realtor; she’s also a licensed attorney with a keen understanding of the intricacies of contract law. 

She is also widely recognized as the former television news anchor for KTRE-TV, where she worked to serve the community for some 6 years. 

She has been married to Jeff since 2002, and they have two precious sons: Chip, who was born in July of 2004, and Blake who made his debut on Valentine’s Day of 2006. 

Heather has an outstanding track record of selling lake properties with amazing speed, but contributes her success to divine intervention, quoting Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine... to Him be the glory.”

TARA SMITH        

Tara is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She went to High School at Lamar in Houston, Texas. She retired after 24 years as a paramedic for the Humble Fire Department. Her husband wanted to retire on Sam Rayburn bought their first place in 1993, and then built their retirement home in 2002.

Her family has been in real estate for 30 years and she looks forward to her second career in helping her clients buy or sell their home or property, and enjoy this wonderful place as much as she does.

WES FINCHER
Wes Fincher is a Lufkin native who knows the Pineywoods like the back of his hand. Whether your search is in town or at the lake, Wes can provide the insight you need to help you choose the perfect property. Known as our home improvement expert, Wes has an extensive background in homebuilding and construction, and he uses that knowledge to help sellers prepare their homes for sale and get the most for their property. Wes and his wife, Amy, live in Lufkin with their three children, where they attend Lufkin United Methodist Church. They enjoy fishing and camping at our gorgeous area lakes. FREDDIE SHAW
Freddie Shaw grew up fishing and hunting every weekend as her daddy's sidekick ever since she could hold a rod. She married a fellow fisherman, and together they decided to follow their love of the great outdoors to make their full-time home at Lake Sam Rayburn (since they were driving here every weekend anyway!) While looking desperately for a home here, they encountered many challenges. It was that frustration that caused Freddie to realize she wanted to become a realtor. She wanted to help other people who were having as much trouble as she had experienced finding a place at the lake.

After raising her 3 wonderful children on this great lake, and losing her husband, Glen, in 2008, Freddie decided the time was right to follow her passion. She became a licensed realtor in 2009, and has been helping people make their dreams at the lake come true ever since. As a long time resident, she is able to offer a wealth of knowledge about the area and the lake to her clients. She has helped many people who, like her, want to raise their family at the lake, and others who are looking to vacation or retire here. Freddie has also helped sellers wishing to move on to other endeavors get top dollar for their properties.

Freddie lives in Rayburn Country, and attends Trinity Assembly of God Church in Woodville. She still spends her free time fishing, but now she has sidekicks of her own. She has 3 beautiful grandchildren who love it here,too, and who affectionately call Lake Sam Rayburn "Poppie's Lake."

Freddie says it brings her such joy to help others find the place of their dreams here at the lake because she knows first hand how much happiness comes with it. JIM SMITH
After growing up in Rockwall, Texas, Jim Smith came to East Texas to attend Stephen F. Austin State University, fell in love, and never left. He has had a long and diverse career in real estate, spanning the gamut from residential development, custom home building, commercial and residential property investing, to large-scale property management. Jim uses that experience to bring his clients a comprehensive, detailed perspective of the entire real estate process.

Jim and his college sweetheart & wife, Alison, live in Lufkin with their 2 sons, Kendall (18) and McClain (8). They attend Lufkin First Assembly, where they volunteer their time working with the children's ministry. Jim's hobbies include golf, modern Christian art, and coaching his children’s sports activities.
